Turning from Knowing   Leave a comment

at night yard geese huddle in doorways
afraid of foxes
if I turn my eyes away
I turn from knowing

or is it a man under a stairwell
afraid of winter winds
those with nothing can only give
if I turn from him, refuse his offering

I am an empty bowl
its sides
slick and cold
